Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse – Visitor Guide

The Charm of Augusta

Standing proudly at the meeting point of the Southern and Indian Oceans, Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse is one of Western Australia’s most spectacular coastal attractions. Located just a 10-minute drive from Augusta, this historic lighthouse has been guiding ships since 1895 and remains one of the region’s must-see destinations.

Visitors can join guided lighthouse tours throughout the day, climbing to the top for panoramic views across two oceans while learning about the fascinating maritime history of Australia’s most south-westerly point. The visitor centre also features interactive displays, a gift shop and café, making it an enjoyable stop for families, couples and photographers alike.

Opening Hours

Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse is generally open daily, although tour times can vary throughout the year and may change during severe weather or maintenance. It is recommended to book guided tours in advance during school holidays and peak summer periods.

Lighthouse Tours: Fully guided tours take visitors up 176 steps to the top of the mainland’s tallest lighthouse. Tours run daily from 8:45 am to 5:00 pm (last entry at 4:30 pm).

Allow around 1.5 to 2 hours for your visit to fully enjoy the lighthouse, museum displays and spectacular coastal scenery.

Ticket Prices:

Full lighthouse and grounds entry is $23 AUD (Adults) and $12 AUD (Children). A Heritage Grounds Pass (without climbing the tower) is available for $7.50 AUD.
